Mission Statement
The mission of the South Central Sporthorse Breeders Association is to provide support, marketing, and promotion to area breeders of quality sporthorses specifically bred for the disciplines of dressage, hunters, showjumping, eventing, and competitive driving, to support the owners of horses bred by association members, and to educate the public regarding the qualities that make a top sporthorse.
Goals
The goal of the South Central Sporthorse Breeders Association is the breeding, training, and promotion of the quality sporthorse in all disciplines. It is the goal of this organization to help the general public understand what a sporthorse is and what qualities makes the quality sporthorse stand apart from the many other types of horses available on the market today. To further this goal, SCSBA has defined the term to include horses that have the conformation to withstand the intense training involved
in the making of a superior sporthorse for dressage, jumper, eventer, hunter, or competitive driving in the upper levels as described by the USEF. Along with proper conformation is the innate talent that these horses are born with, in addition to superior movement in all three gaits (walk, trot, and canter). Also of great importance is trainability / rideability / temperament. When combined with conformation, talent, and movement, you have the makings of a superior sporthorse. It is not the goal of this association to register horses or to make a determination whether a particular horse of any breed is suitable for any discipline. SCSBA is strictly working to support those who are working diligently to produce superior sporthorses who will be able to withstand the rigors of training and stresses of showing in dressage, show jumping, hunters, eventing and competitive driving.
